Welcome to What If...? Cartoons. What If...? is a cartoon from the imaginations of Jeff and Austin, two college buddies who created it to help them to ward off boredom as they attended college at a small Southeastern Kansas University. If you have ever been to Southeast Kansas, you'll know what we mean. You might be thinking why on earth weren't these guys out chasing girls and drinking beer? Well let's just say that when you are the head of the local Star Trek Fan Club who has time for anything else? Even with a full load of learning to speak Klingon they still had plenty of free time on their hands. One day while walking to class Jeff asked Austin "What if when we get to class today the teacher asks you to talk to her after class and she informs you that you are failing and the only way to get a passing grade is to wear a giant diaper to class everyday. Plus you can't tell anyone why you are wearing the diaper. What would you do?" Of course the answer was "I can wear a diaper for the rest of the semester no problem, but only if I am going to get an A". This lead Austin to ask Jeff "Well, What if you are walking to class and you find a wallet and so you open it up so you'll know who to return it to and you see that it is my wallet. As you are closing it up a photo of your sister naked falls out and it says,"To Austin, with all my love!". What are you going to do?"As time went on the What If...? became more and more elaborate. Sometimes a What If...? would be in development for weeks before it was used. The What If...? Game (as it was known among their friends) became quite popular. Although many people would create What If...? senerios no one was quite as good at making them as Jeff and Austin. And so the What If...? went on just as a game until one day Jeff and Austin decided to put their creatively to use and created What If...? the cartoon. The idea was to create a cartoon with no limitations and no boundaries. To think What If...? with an idea and then to create a cartoon of it. What If...? was also the kind of cartoon that Jeff and Austin wanted to read in their local newspaper but couldn't because no such cartoon existed.We have been making What If...? cartoons and sharing them with our family and friends since 1994 and in order to get them out so that more people can enjoy them we decided to build this website.
Present
Without a syndication deal it often leaves no place for cartoonists to put their work so others can enjoy it. We have put this small site together as an outlet for our creative talents and as a way for others to see and enjoy our work. We have been working on What If...? for over 9 years and we have had lots of positive feed back from many different people. We have submitted our cartoon to many different newspapers with lots of positive results and maybe some day you will be able to enjoy What If...? everyday in your favorite local newspaper or in a book at your local bookstore. We hope that you enjoy our cartoons as much as we enjoy creating them. We will be adding new cartoons as much as our schedules allow, so check back often. Future
We would like for as many people as possible to be able to enjoy our cartoons and we are also working on the possibility of publishing a book of What If...? cartoons. Will you ever be able to open your local newspaper to the comics section and see What If...? the cartoon there?
